A THANK YOU TO ALL VOLUNTEERS

from everyone within british powerlifting

Now most of our British Powerlifting National championships have been completed and with most of the Home Nations championships also completed, we all wanted to say a special thanks to those involved.

Thank you from british powerlifting

All of us who sit on the board of directors, who are also volunteers, want to thank everyone who has taken time out of their lives to commit their skills, knowledge and ability for the betterment of the sport. That may be at competitions, it may be in administrative areas, it may be sitting on sub-committees or working with your home nations or divisions. It may be working on the public side, such as the social media platforms that have excelled over the last few years, or in the background working on digital platforms, frameworks and organising items.

No matter the role, no matter how much time you have given, big or small, it is all valued. It is sometimes hard to understand the compounding value of ‘little and often’, particularly when you are working with a small group of people. But that little, and hopefully often, grows in to significant growth of the sport, the standard of competitions, the enjoyment of being involved and that positive feeling that you are left with each time you finish at an event.

To those looking to volunteer, don’t hesitate. You can become part of the most incredible team, whether its in your division, your home nation or with us in British Powerlifting. People who are dedicated, hard working, passionate, loyal, smart and funny, obsessed with the feats of strengths we see that improve each year but underlying it all, committed to the sport.

a huge thank you from english powerlifting, lottie hall Championship & Technical Secretary
English Powerlifting would like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers for your commitment and hard work throughout the year. This is the first year we have split our Championships into four separate events – Open, SJ/Juniors, Masters and Bench only – and it was a great success.
We simply couldn’t deliver these events without everyone involved and your contribution is genuinely appreciated. Your dedication and passion to volunteer makes a big difference, thank you.
we can’t do what we do without you, adam thomas ceo welsh powerlifting

Hosting a national competition brings even greater demands on everyone’s time, and once again our volunteers across Wales stepped up to make it happen with their dedication, commitment, and willingness to give your time are the foundation of our sport, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything you do

our success is down to the volunteers, claire tocher chair scottish powerlifting

As we come off the back of the biggest ever national championship in Scotland this weekend, there couldn’t be a better time to shout out our simply incredible volunteers.

Every single one of you makes our sport better and helps us build a community we are all proud of where everyone can contribute and thrive. Thank you to everyone who has given, and continues to give, their time for all of us — and to those who haven’t yet, we’re looking forward to seeing what you can bring!

a huge thanks from northern irish powerlifting, Josh bell CEO NIPF

A huge thanks go out from me, and the rest of the committee, to our army of volunteers. Whether it’s helping on competition days, transporting equipment around the country or working on admin behind the scenes, the federation wouldn’t run without your amazing work.

I can’t wait to see where you help our federation go as we move from strength to strength together!

nothing is achieved without you, lisa grant isle of man powerlifting

Nothing we’ve achieved so far on the Isle of Man would have been possible without the people who have stepped up to help. As a new and developing federation, every person has brought something different, and together we’ve created a fantastic foundation to build on.

We’re still small, but our knowledge, confidence and experience grow with every competition and every project. Thank you for giving your time, backing our vision and being part of the journey. The future of Powerlifting Isle of Man is exciting, and I’m so grateful you’re part of it.

British Powerlifting AGM

Information for you

On July 4, British Powerlifting published a formal notice of the upcoming AGM to be held online on July 26 2026. There is information on the published AGM page.

Over the past week, interim Chair Fraser Montgomery and I have been talking to the people who have submitted motions to understand the motives behind their motions and to ensure everyone involved can provide the best outcome. We have talked to many hard working and passionate people about the organisation, about Powerlifting and about some of the challenges we all face. Most of these challenges come from us being a solely voluntary organisation. Many of the motions put forward are done so due to the strain being put on all level of volunteer.

We do urge each of our members to click on the AGM page and read the motions put in along with some of the comments raise already. This is a valuable chance for you to be part of change.

Comments on the motions we be open from July 3 to 10 and can be seen on the AGM page.

Please note, we will also be holding an open discussion of the motions for BP AGM 2026 on Thursday 23 July 2026, 18:00. This time has changed to provide the best opportunity for people to attend.  This is to be held while voting is still open so members can talk through the issues before they finalise or change their intended vote before submitting it.

LAW AND LEGISLATION COMMITTEE EXPANSION

The Law and Legislation Committee is recruiting

With the continued growth of the Federation, and the continuing movement to becoming an ever more professional organisation, the range of issues which the membership and the Board face throughout the year is increasing. With an increase in activity, comes more opportunity for members to be involved in supporting the Federation and its drive to become bigger and better. Not all of these issues arise out of disputes between stakeholders.

These do happen and the committee acts as a sense-check for members and the Board, offering advice to diffuse matters before they escalate too far for the benefit of all involved.

The committee is commonly asked to opine on the interpretation of the Federation’s constitution and by-laws, applying the rules to the situation, and assisting with a strategy for resolution. Whilst the questions may be discrete, they all highlight areas for improvement and so the committee assists with wider policy decisions.

If you want to lend a hand to the Federation, but can’t always commit to a weekend of spotting and loading, giving your time to support the legal issues which the Federation faces is a great way to do so.

The Committee is keen to hear from any member who would like to join its ranks. Aside from having a legal or commercial background, there are no other formal requirements. We look forward to hearing from any and all interested members.
