FISU World Championships 2026 Announcement
Following a careful review of the current conflict in the Middle East, we have taken the decision not to send a team to Sharjah, UAE for the upcoming FISU World Championships.
The ongoing conflict and the regional instability have created uncertainties regarding travel and participant welfare. While we recognise the efforts of organisers and local authorities, the safety and wellbeing of our athletes and coaching staff must remain our highest priority.
This decision has not been taken lightly, and has been made taking into account of available travel and security advice provided by the FCDO, as well as a vote put to the board.
We remain committed to supporting international opportunities for our university athletes and look forward to participating in future events when circumstances allow.
