Main Purpose of the Role
The Administrator / Assistant provides general administrative and organisational support across British Powerlifting, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of office and governance functions. The role includes direct assistance to the CEO, helping to manage correspondence, diary commitments, and administrative tasks that support the effective leadership of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
General Administration
- Provide day-to-day administrative support across the organisation, including
handling correspondence, filing, and record-keeping. - Manage and respond to general enquiries from members, officials, and the
public via email. - Maintain and update a variety of membership and organisational databases
where needed. - Prepare and distribute documents, reports, and meeting agenda’s as
required. - Support the organisation and logistics of meetings, including scheduling,
minute-taking, and follow-up actions.
Assisting the CEO
- Provide administrative support directly to the CEO, including diary
management, correspondence, and scheduling of meetings. - Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing for the CEO.
- Help coordinate CEO travel arrangements and event logistics where required.
- Act as a point of liaison between the CEO and staff, volunteers, committees,
and external stakeholders. - Undertake ad hoc tasks and projects on behalf of the CEO as required.
Competitions and Membership Support - Assist with the administration of competition entries, results, and related
documentation whereby necessary. - Liaise with competition hosts, officials, and volunteers to support the smooth
running of events.
Communications
- Assist with updating content on the British Powerlifting website and social
media channels as required (only when needed). - Support the distribution of newsletters, announcements, and member
communications. (only when needed).
Person Specification
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident using standard office software (e.g. Microsoft Office/Google Workspace) and databases (basic).
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
- Able to work independently, use initiative, and meet deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable
- Previous experience providing administrative support to a senior leader or executive.
- Experience working within a sports governing body or membership organisation.
- Familiarity with powerlifting or a general interest in the sport.
- Experience using website content management systems.
Terms
- This is a paid, part-time position.
- Work is primarily remote.
- Notice period: 1 month.
- Probation period: 3 months.
