Home Nations at the Isle of Man

A message from Isle of Man Director of Operations, Lisa Grant.

The Isle of Man is excited to host the Home Nations Powerlifting Championships on Saturday 21st November 2026

Welcoming teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This marks the first time the championships will be held on the island, with hosting responsibilities rotating between the competing nations.

Each nation will be represented by five male and five female lifters, competing for points based on GL towards the overall team standings.

The championships bring together competitive team lifting and the traditional friendly rivalry between the home nations.

As hosts, Powerlifting Isle of Man is also looking forward to incorporating elements of traditional Isle of Man culture and hospitality, giving visiting teams an opportunity to experience some of the island’s unique heritage.

A message from the Home Nations

We are collectively looking forward to attending the inaugural Isle of Man hosted Home Nations and are confident Isle of Man Powerlifting will put on a great event.

Looking ahead to the British Open

As I reported last week, the British Open Classic is fast approaching and the team behind the scenes are working extremely hard to provide you with an incredible event.

We will be releasing further information around the coaching licence for 2027, however, the current guidance pertains to this year’s British Classic Open. This means anyone in the warm up room and holding area must hold a Coaching Licence. You can find more information on the Coaching Licence page and can apply for the licence through your Sport80 portal.

This is the LAST Nationals event before the new Coaching License requirements come into play for 2027, meaning coaches will also require a Level 1 Coaching Qualification to coach at Nationals in the future (from 2027 onwards). We will also be announcing our Approved Club Coaching Licence model which enables us to continue the safe approach to coaching at competitions whilst also recognising the challenges of attaining a coaching licence for those who may not be professional coaches.

Any queries, please email educationandcoaching@britishpowerlifitng.org, but please bear in mind the Coaching and Education teams are run by volunteers who are limited on their time. We ask you to read all the information available before sending in your queries, including the British Powerlifting Coaching Licence 2026-2027 Policy and the quick reference guide, all found on the Coaching Licence page.

2027 Nationals Venues

The competition teams, hosts and divisions have been working extremely hard to finalise competition venues and locations for 2027. We will be releasing all these event updates in the coming weeks and we thank you in advance for your patience.
