Referees
Referee's Licence Requirements
You can sign up to referee at British Championships by completing the below form. You can also amend your availability by logging back into this form.
You can summit or amend your availability any time up to the closing date for each competition. The referee rota will be produced a few days after the closing date and be published on the competition Linktree.

Referees that referee at British Championships are able to claim expenses as detailed on the expense claim form, please see the below link.
Levels of Referees
Divisional Referee
Able to Referee in the centre or side at all divisional championships.
Able to Referee on the side at National championships.
Able to be Technical Controller at divisional and National championships.
National Referee
Able to Referee in the centre or side at all divisional championships.
Able to Referee in the centre or side at all National championships.
Able to be Technical Controller at divisional and National championships.
Experienced National Referees can also sit on the Jury at National championships.
IPF Category 2 Referee
Able to carry out all roles of as a National Referee.
Able to Referee in the centre or side at all International championships.
Able to sit on the Jury at all National championships.
IPF Category 1 Referee
Able to carry out all roles of as a National Referee.
Able to Referee in the centre or side at all International championships.
Able to sit on the Jury at all International championships.
Able to sit on the Jury at all National championships.
Promotion
To progress from Divisional to National Referee
Must have been active as a divisional referees for at least two years. Must be recommended by their division / Home Nation. Must be observed refereeing at a Full Power British Championships or Home Nation National Championship. The referee will need to be will be observed by the Jury or an an experienced referee that has be approved to carry out observations by the Technical Officer.

How to become a Referee
Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and a member of British Powerlifting for a minimum of 24 months.
Applicants must take a computer based exam overseen by referee appointed by British Powerlifting to oversee exams.
The exam is on the content of the IPF rulebook therefore it is advised to have read this in detail before attending a referee's course.
The exam is 84 questions multiple choice with a pass mark of 80%. The exam can be taken on a laptop, table or smart phone, it is expected that candidates bring a suitable device with then to the referees course.
Referee's courses will be run locally by each Division / Home Nation. Standard format of the course is a presentation of the rules followed by the exam. Please contact your Division / Home Nation for the next available course.
The exam fee is £50 which includes a Tie and Badge on passing the exam.
