NEWS FROM THE GBPF EXECUTIVE JANUARY 2017
BENCH PRESS TEAM MANAGER
We are pleased to announce that Sheridan Wray has been appointed Classic Bench Press Team Manager/Head Coach and hope all classic bench pressers give him their full support. An announcement regarding the Equipped Bench Press Team Manager will be made in the near future.
RECORD KEEPER
Jo Whiteley has decided to step down as Record Keeper and we would like to thank her for all her hard work and diligence carrying out this role. Craig Wilkins has now taken over this job and will handle all British record claims and compile the ranking lists. For the time being the Powerlifting League will be put on hold.
DRUG TEST RESULTS
We tested five lifters at the Home Nations Championships and all were negative. Two tests were carried out at the SE championships with one positive.
The following members have been banned:
Reggie Smith – SE Championships, presence of clomiphene. A four year suspension imposed effective December 31st 2016.
Drummond McCulloch – Fife Open Championships, presence of higenamine and dimethylbutylamine. Following an Appeal Hearing, a 12 month ban imposed effective 24th November 2016
All members are advised to review carefully the 2017 WADA list of banned substances as there are a number added, which were not previously identified separately.
INTERNATIONAL SELECTIONS
The Preliminary Selections for the European Classic Championships and European Junior & Sub Junior Championships have been made and reviewed by the Selection Sub-Committee. These can be viewed on Goodlift http://goodlift.info/nominations.php
British Powerlifting is the only UK powerlifting organisation that has a fully WADA compliant anti-doping programme, which is independently administered by the IPF. All of our anti-doping testing is carried out at our own expense. Elite GB lifters are selected by the IPF for inclusion in the Registered Testing Pool (RT) along with 144 lifters in the Testing Pool and National Testing Pool. All are subject to Out of Competition Testing (OCT). Read More >
