British Championships
Planning the championship calendar for this year is clearly very difficult because of the uncertainty around pandemic restrictions, particularly the current lockdown. As things look currently, it is unlikely we will be able to run any national championships in the first half of the year. We are working with promoters to come up with feasible dates and venues and these will be posted as soon they are decided. Of course, all subject to prevailing COVID-19 restrictions.
Disciplinary Committee (DC)
Subsequent to Ian Finch's appointment as Deputy Chairman, Bryn Evans has been appointed as the new Chair of the DC. Bryn has been a member of the DC since the inception of the GBPF and we wish him every success in his new role. In addition, we are pleased to announce that Emma Goodwin and Kim Cowell are now members of the DC joining Arun Singh and Phil Guise.
World Games - Greatest Athlete of all Time
Normally every year the IWGA has voting for the Athlete of the year and IPF lifters have been successful over the last years (2019 - Rhaea Stinn - third place; 2018 - Jennifer Thompson - second place; 2017 Larysa Soloviova - second place).
This year the IWGA is celebrating its 40th Anniversary and for this reason the IWGA will run voting for the GREATEST ATHLETE of ALL TIME.
The IPF has nominated Larysa Soloviova because she is the only four times Gold medallist at the World Games, as well as a multiple IPF World Champion and World Record holder.
Larysa is also a role model powerlifting and really deserved this nomination.
Please take a little time to look at this overview IWGA_VotingInfoLarysa and vote via the link therein.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs)
Many national and divisional AGMs are coming up and we would like to remind everyone that they must be current British Powerlifting members to participate.
British Powerlifting is the only UK powerlifting organisation that has a fully WADA compliant anti-doping programme, which is independently administered by the IPF. All of our anti-doping testing is carried out at our own expense. Elite GB lifters are selected by the IPF for inclusion in the Registered Testing Pool (RT) along with 144 lifters in the Testing Pool and National Testing Pool. All are subject to Out of Competition Testing (OCT). Read More >
