Anti Doping Rule Violation
On 23 January 2022, an IDTM Doping Control Officer (DCO) collected an in-competition urine Sample from Mark Townend during the British Equipped Bench Press Championships in Horncastle. The Analysis of the A Sample returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for Clomiphene S4.2. Hormone and Metabolic Modulator.
Having gone through due process, the IPF have therefore imposed a two-year period of ineligibility. commencing 04 February 2022. Mark Townend can resume competition 04 February 2024.
The period of ineligibility of two years extends to participating in any capacity in a competition or activity (other than authorized anti-doping education or rehabilitation programs) authorized or organized by any WADA Code Signatory, Signatory’s member organization, or a club or other member organization of a Signatory’s member organization, or in competitions authorized or organized by any professional league or any international or national level Event organization or any elite or national-level sporting activity funded by a governmental agency.
