Competitions

British Powerlifting has a comprehensive competition programme starting at local level and progressing through national up to British Championships. These attract a large number of lifters, for example over 400 athletes competed in the 2015 British Classic Championships. We send teams to all European and World Championships across all the age groups and disciplines with a high degree of success.

You are never too young or old to make a start in powerlifting; competitors aged 14 year and upwards are welcome. Equally, you are never too old. Several 70+ competitors still represent Britain internationally and many 'masters' lifters only take the sport up in their 40s or 50s. Powerlifting is a great sport with an unrivalled camaraderie which promotes health, strength and vitality. If you decide to take your first steps in the sport and want to lift in an independently drug tested organisation with an established network of local divisions, choose British Powerlifting.

    3/ Full meet

University Teams will be capped at 5 males and 5 females for equal representation. However, top 3 males and females scored on wilks will be used for final scores. If a university cannot produce an even split of male and female not to worry. E.g. 6 males and 4 females is fine and vice versa or 8 females and two males. Max a team can enter is 10 per team. No more.

If a university brings 3 males and 2 two females they would be at a disadvantage as they wont have a third female count the score towards final tally.

2 per weight class as per IPF rules. Good practice for teams looking to represent their university at the World University Cup. So be tactical in picking your teams.
