British Powerlifting Coaching LICENSE

In order to coach/handle at a Nationals competition, a coach will require a valid and current Coaching License, inclusive of Safeguarding, Anti-doping, and Diversity, Equality & Inclusion certificates. This is to ensure the federation maintains a minimum standard of professionalism, inclusivity, safety, and quality experience for all lifters, volunteers, coaches and other personnel.

You can find more information below on how to obtain the Coaching License, which courses are accepted, and an instructional video showing how to use the Sport:80 platform to apply for the license.

For clarification, the Nationals events which require the license include:

British Sub-junior Championships, British Junior Championships, British Classic Bench Press Championships, British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Championships, British Equipped Full Power & Bench Press Championships, British Classic Masters Championships, British Open Classic Championships

KEY CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE Coaching LICENSE

Our team of licensing staff are constantly reviewing certificate submissions and Coaching License applications, however in order to ensure a fair playing field and to ensure consistent workload and preparation capabilities for competition staff, there is a deadline for coaches to obtain their Coaching License.

The last checks for submissions and licenses will occur 48 hours before the first flight of the corresponding competition lifts off, and checks/reviews will not commence again until the day after a competition finishes.

For example, if a competition’s first flight lifts off at 09:00 on Saturday, the last check will occur at 09:00 on Thursday. Any submissions received after this time will not be reviewed for the upcoming competition.

It is a coach’s responsibility to ensure they have had their three certificates approved, and then have applied for and been granted a current and valid Coaching License by this time.

If you have any concerns, queries, or would like to seek any further guidance, please contact the licensing team on coaching@britishpowerlifting.org.
