World Classic Championships

Congratulations to our teams at these championships where the Men came fourth out of 56 countries and the women came sixth out of 42 countries. There were many good performances, but top of the pile were Tony Cliffe who took the 120kg title in tremendous style and Inderraj Singh Dhillon who broke the World 120kg deadlift record with a fantastic 386kg. The coaching team did a great job ably led as usual by Henry Tosh.

Richard Parker and Will Brown attended the IPF General Assembly (GA) on behalf of British Powerlifting, which was held in a hybrid format for the first time. Delegates could participate via Zoom and the voting was electronic.

At the end of the GA Richard was honoured with induction to the IPF Hall of Fame; an award well deserved after many years service to powerlifting.

Will made his debut refereeing at a World championships and Richard did five stints on the jury. Paul Marsh also refereed before his coaching duties took over.

UKAD

We have now satisfied all 24 criteria of the UKAD Assurance Framework, which means we can now start discussions for them to take on our entire Anti-Doping Programme. Once this is done, our anti-doping rules will be those of UKAD rather than the IPF. This has been achieved after considerable effort by our Anti Doping Education Lead Chris Gilbert and the CEO as the designated board member for anti-doping, which is a UKAD requirement. However this is only Phase 1, working with UKAD is a continuous process requiring regular reporting and provision of evidence. on things like education and information sharing

British Powerlifting is the only UK powerlifting organisation that has a fully WADA compliant anti-doping programme, which is independently administered by the IPF. All of our anti-doping testing is carried out at our own expense. Elite GB lifters are selected by the IPF for inclusion in the Registered Testing Pool (RT) along with 144 lifters in the Testing Pool and National Testing Pool. All are subject to Out of Competition Testing (OCT). Read More >
