We hope this message finds you all safe and well in these strange and challenging times. It's been fantastic to see many of our members finding ingenious ways to continue to train from home and remain ready for a return to the platform as soon as it is safe to do so.

Following the recent action of some other powerlifting federations banning Metal Equipment from their competitions, we contacted the IPF to understand the approval status of Metal equipment. Metal apparel will remain on the IPF approved list until at least 2023 in line with their contract renewal period. British Powerlifting is mandated to follow the rules of the IPF and therefore must follow the IPF list of approved apparel. However, we fully understand that members may wish to take their own stance on this brand of apparel and are of course free to do so.

We emphasise, that in accordance with our rules, British Powerlifting does not tolerate discrimination, racism or hatred of any kind and expect the same values to be shown of our affiliated businesses.

SBD are kindly offering to replace any offending apparel purchased by British Powerlifting members. If you are a current British Powerlifting member, have purchased Metal singlets or deadlift socks in the past year and would like to have these replaced for SBD equipment free of charge, please send an email with a proof of purchase and proof of 2020 BP membership to shop@sbdapparel.com

Please send the qualifying equipment back to SBD for a free replacement. We hope that this will help competitors who do not wish to represent this brand on the platform.

Thank you for your attention and hope to see you all back on the platform soon.

British Powerlifting is the only UK powerlifting organisation that has a fully WADA compliant anti-doping programme, which is independently administered by the IPF. Elite GB lifters are selected by the IPF for inclusion in the Registered Testing Pool (RT) along with 144 lifters in the Testing Pool and National Testing Pool. All are subject to Out of Competition Testing (OCT). Read More >
