INJURY SURVEY
Hello everyone!
I'm currently conducting a study into injury patterns in the general powerlifting population with my supervisor and would greatly appreciate some help with completing a survey. It should take around 5-6 minutes of your time and will help us learn a little more about the common injuries in powerlifting".
The link to the survey is: http://goo.gl/forms/CifDQvzOcxOwPlnF2
Once again, thanks for your time and once we've yielded the data I will share with the group what we have learnt.

NEWS FROM THE GBPF EXECUTIVE JUNE 2016
NEW WEBSITE
All things being well, our new web-site will go live Monday 13th June and from then anyone accessing the old one will be redirected to the new site http://www.britishpowerlifting.org . Please be aware though that there may be a short period when neither site is available, whilst the transfer between servers is in progress.
The new site reflects our rebranding to British Powerlifting and whilst our company name remains unchanged, we will now operate as British Powerlifting. New email addresses will also be introduced for officers.
Considerable work has gone into producing the new site, but some information and features will be added after the launch due to a phased approach. This will include on-line entry and payment for British Championships. It may not all be 100% and any constructive comments will be very welcome.
MEMBERSHIP
The new web-site includes an improved on-line application system, which will automatically switch in the July 1st to October 31st membership offer at half price this year provided full membership is purchased for 2017 at the same time. Home Country and divisional representatives will have their own log-in user names and passwords to interrogate their members' details.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Whilst healthy exchanges of views on social media are beneficial, there have been instances recently where there have been inappropriate postings. Members are reminded under our rules, posting anything which could be considered to be bringing either the Federation or powerlifting into disrepute, may be subject to disciplinary action. This includes anything which could be considered cyber bullying.
WORLD CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIPS
We have a large team of 60 lifters across all the age groups going to the World Classic Championships in Kileen, Texas at the end of this month. We wish them the very best of luck and look forward to seeing a good haul of medals.
WORLD POWER SHOW www.worldpowershow.com
We are exhibiting at this show on Sunday 3rd July in the form of demonstration lifting with some public participation on bench press. The show is at the Excel Centre, London which is easy to reach and has excellent facilities.
Statement Regarding World Classic Selection
27/05/2016
Concerns have been raised by some members regarding the team selection for this years World Classic Championships. The GBPF recognise that the selection process may not have been equitable and that action is required to ensure that this does not happen again. This will be approached on two fronts, firstly with a review of the selection process itself, being led by a member of the Law and Legislation Committee, and secondly by ensuring that the selection process is adhered to.
In addition, as formal complaints have been received, the whole matter is now being dealt with under our Grievance Procedure, and the Disciplinary Committee have been instructed to undertake an investigation.

NEW WEBSITE
Our new look web-site is nearing completion and we are aiming to have this up and running before the end of June 2016. This will include an improved Membership Application system.

ANTI-DOPING
Five tests were conducted at the British Bench Press Championships and all were negative. Two were conducted at the NI Classic Championships and both were negative.
10 tests were conducted at the British Equipped Championships. Nine were negative and there was one positive. David Mills' urine sample was found to contain the prohibited drug clomiphene (S4. Hormone & Metabolic Modulators). He has therefore been suspended from the GBPF for a period of four years, effective from 11th April 2016.
Five tests were conducted at the British University Championships and all were negative. Four tests were done at the British Unequipped Masters Championships and all but one was negative. Paul Jory's sample was found to contain prohibited drug hydroxystanozolol glucuronide (S1.1 Anabolic Agents). He is therefore suspended from the GBPF for four years until June 6th 2020. There was also one failure to provide a sample and as a result Andy Hutchins is suspended from the GBPF for four years effective from 4th April 2016.

New Website
10/03/2016
Dear Members,
As you may already be aware, after many years of hard work and dedication, Rob Thomas has stepped down as GBPF webmaster. We are now beginning the process of rebuilding our website and hope to re-launch with a fresh look in the coming months. There may be a period of reduced functionality in the intervening period, but we hope that the general impact will be negligible.
We would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for the new website, so please get in touch to let us know what you would like to see included in our plans.
Please send all suggestions to mediaofficer@gbpf.org.uk or get in touch via our official Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/gbpowerfed

Paul Barnbrook
18/02/2016
We have received the following sad news about British Powerlifter Paul Barnbrook from Phil Guise..

"Tragically Paul lost his battle with Cancer and passed away on Friday evening. Paul lifted for GB many times at Masters and gained a Silver European Medal in 2008 with individual Gold in the Deadlift and also an individual Gold in the Deadlift at the Worlds in 2008. Paul won his first British Junior title in 1977 and won many titles during his 31 year career. He also holds the Commonwealth 100kg M2 Deadlift Record which is now frozen. His son Josh also became British Junior Champion. He was my team mate and training partner for over thirty years and will be sadly missed."

2015 'GBPF Powerlifting League' Final Results!
10/01/2016
The final results are in from the 2015 'GBPF Powerlifting League' and we can now bring you the names of the two lifters that have come out on top and won a year's free membership of the GBPF!
Winning the Men's League was Owen Lockwood and taking the number one spot in the Women's League is Carole Taylor.
Well done to both lifters!
2015_powerlifting_league_women
For those of you that don't already know, this is how the league works:
The League runs from the 1st Jan - 31st Dec.
The League is based on all domestic GBPF results from Divisional up to National Level. This includes, Bench Only, Equipped and Classic.
Every time a lifter competes in a domestic competition they get a Wilks score, each score is added up cumulatively until a final total is reached at the end of the year.
The more competitions you compete in, the higher your Wilks score will be.
At the end of the year, the top scoring Male and Female lifter will win a year's free membership of the GBPF for the following year!
Many thanks to Craig Wilkins who worked hard throughout 2015 to compile the League. Craig has now handed this duty over to Jo Whiteley and we look forward watching the battle to top the 2016 League get underway!
