Medical Committee

The primary role of the Medical Committee is the assessment of TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) applications and secondary to advise on medical issues related to powerlifting.

I was a GP in a large teaching and dispensing practice, and chaired a regional Drug & Therapeutics Committee. In recent years I've been chair of the Data Committee for a large international medical trial.

I've been learning to bench press for 30 years. so far only one lift has felt miraculous.

British Powerlifting is the only UK powerlifting organisation that carries out independent WADA compliant drug testing. In 2017 we conducted some 140 anti-doping tests, all at our own expense. GB lifters in World Championships are registered with the IPF for Out of Competition Testing (OCT).
